The Ravenna Technopole, based at the Renzo Sartori Laboratories & Ex Asili on the university campus, is home to industrial research groups working in strategic areas including environmental monitoring, waste management, renewable energy, marine ecology, advanced materials and the nautical sector. Expertise ranges from the analysis and characterisation of materials to the development of sustainability technologies, integrating basic research with industrial applications.
Closely connected with the educational offering of the Campus and with the maritime and industrial vocation of the area, the laboratories translate research into concrete tools to address the challenges of ecological transition and blue growth. Ravenna thus becomes a place where academic knowledge, innovation, and local development come together to create lasting solutions.

The Environment, Energy and Sea Research Centre (CRAEM) is a key hub for innovation in the fields of environmental sustainability, energy transition and blue growth. The industrial research groups based at the centre develop cutting-edge technologies for energy storage and conversion, safety‑related sensor systems, waste valorisation and the protection of ecosystems.
Through an interdisciplinary approach and collaboration with businesses, universities and institutions, CRAEM helps to spread practical solutions for decarbonisation, the circular economy and environmental protection, reinforcing Ravenna’s role as a national hub for sustainable innovation.

Its activities combine basic research and technology transfer, offering companies and institutions innovative solutions in strategic sectors such as environmental sustainability, energy, advanced mechanics and ceramic and composite materials. The interdisciplinary approach integrates experimentation, prototyping, specialised consultancy and the development of new technologies to support the competitiveness of the production fabric.
