CIRI-FRAME/FIP-WE@UNIBO
Fraunhofer Innovation Platform for Waste Valorisation and Future Energy Supply at University of Bologna
The FIP-WE@UNIBO laboratory is the result of the collaboration between the EMRG (Environmental Management Research Group) of the University of Bologna and the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT in Sulzbach-Rosenberg. Research is centred on developing predominantly carbon-based materials, designed to be cost-effective and environmentally sustainable, with a wide range of potential industrial applications.
In addition to scientific research, the laboratory promotes technology transfer and the adoption of innovative solutions by businesses, accelerating commercialisation processes and promoting circular economy and green engineering models. The laboratory’s focus areas include carbon capture and soil health protection, climate change mitigation, pollution prevention and monitoring, and the restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems. Special focus is placed on turning waste into new resources, helping industry advance towards a more sustainable transition.
