ISSMC (CNR) is a national centre of excellence for the design and development of advanced high-performance ceramic materials, intended for industry and applicable in numerous other technological sectors.
With a vision strongly oriented towards sustainability and innovation, the Institute of Science, Technology and Sustainability for the Development of Ceramic Materials (ISSMC) promotes a research model that combines advanced technologies with social responsibility. Each line of activity is based on the principles of green chemistry, sustainable development and resilience, with a continual commitment to fundamental research as the driver of practical, real-world solutions.
ISSMC has earned institutional accreditation as an industrial research and technology-transfer facility in Emilia-Romagna, is officially recognised among accredited centres, and has been a member of the Region’s High Technology Network since 2012.
The Institute fosters collaboration with universities and industry, both nationally and internationally. It drives the creation of safer, more sustainable and higher‑performance materials by leveraging cutting-edge technologies including AI-based modelling, nanostructured synthesis, 3D printing and the circular reuse of industrial by-products.
Thanks to solid technical and scientific experience and a forward-looking vision, ISSMC collaborates with companies and institutions, offering research, training, experimentation and technology transfer services.
