LEGAL BASIS FOR THE PROCESSING

The personal data indicated on this page are processed as they are necessary for the pursuit of the controller’s legitimate interest in ensuring the proper functioning of the web services provided and in obtaining statistical information on visits and the use of those services (Article 6(1)(f) of the Regulation), as they are necessary for the performance of a contract or pre‑contractual measures (Article 6(1)(b) of the Regulation) in order to respond to the requests sent to us, and on the basis of consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the Regulation) for the purpose of sending newsletters.

TYPES OF DATA PROCESSED AND PURPOSES OF PROCESSING

Navigation data

During their normal operation the information systems and software procedures used to operate this website acquire some personal data. Transmission of such data is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

This category of data includes IP addresses or domain names of computers and devices used by users, URI/URL (Uniform Resource Identifier/Locator) of requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response from the server (successful, error, etc..), and certain information regarding the geolocation of the request, by detecting the IP of the connection point, which differs from the user’s computer IP.

This information is not collected for the purpose of being associated with identified data subjects but because it is necessary for web browsing.

These data, which are necessary for the use of web services, are also processed for the purpose of obtaining statistical information on the use of the services (most visited pages, number of visitors by time slot or day, geographical areas of origin, etc.) and verifying the correct functioning of the services offered.

The data (log files, traffic data) could be used to ascertain liability in the event of hypothetical computer crimes against the website, and for the same reason stored by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) and the web host.

Data provided by the user

The optional, explicit, and voluntary sending of messages to the contact addresses indicated on the website entails the acquisition of the sender’s contact details, which are necessary to reply, as well as any personal data included in the communication. The processing in question does not require the acquisition of consent, since it is necessary for the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures at the request of the data subject in order to respond to the requests sent to us; therefore, the provision of the data is to be considered necessary for the fulfilment of the request: failure to provide the data would make it impossible to fulfil the request sent to us.

Sending messages does not imply automatic subscription to mailing lists for promotional or commercial purposes.

The data collected in this way are kept for the time strictly necessary to reply to the messages. If a business relationship is established, the data will be stored at least for the duration of the relationship.

Contact form

You can send us enquiries via the appropriate section. In this case, your e-mail address will be acquired by us and used for the sole purpose of following up your request. Entering data in the form does not imply automatic subscription to the newsletter.

The data collected in this way are kept for the time strictly necessary to reply to the messages. If a business relationship is established, the data will be stored at least for the duration of the relationship.

Newsletter

By subscribing to our newsletter, your e-mail address will be acquired by us in order to send you newsletters containing invitations to events, calls for applications, and news on master’s degrees and training courses.

A special notice on the processing of personal data and the corresponding consent check-box can be found in the relevant section of the newsletter subscription form.

Cookies and other tracking systems

Cookies are small text strings that a website may send, while browsing, to a user’s device (be it a PC, a smartphone, a notebook, or a tablet; they are usually stored directly on the browser used for navigation) in order to store information (such as language preferences) to be transmitted back to the server hosting the website. When the user accesses the site again, the server sends the cookies back to the user’s device.

Cookies can be divided into two broad categories: session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s device until they expire.

It is also possible to distinguish between first-party cookies, which are installed by the operator of the website the user is visiting, and third-party cookies, which are installed by entities other than the website operator.

Finally, cookies can be subdivided into technical cookies, which are necessary for browsing the website, —for example, because they are used to perform authentication or remember the language in which the site is displayed; statistical cookies, used by website operators to collect aggregate and anonymous information on the number of visits to the site; and profiling cookies, used to monitor and profile users while they browse, to study their web-browsing or consumption habits (what they buy, what they read, etc.), with the aim of creating user profiles in order to send targeted and personalised advertising.

This website uses cookies; for a complete explanation, please refer to the cookie policy available in the dedicated section.

DATA RECIPIENTS

Browsing data are stored by the ISP (Internet Service Provider) and by the web host (the entity hosting the web server on its own physical machines), and they retain such data for the periods required by applicable law.

Personal data collected as a result of receiving messages and contacts and sent via the form, as well as for the purpose of sending newsletters, are processed by in-house staff authorised by the Data Controller, who act on the basis of specific instructions provided regarding the purposes and methods of such processing.

No profiling is carried out and the data collected is not subject to automated decision-making processes.

RIGHTS OF DATA SUBJECTS AND RIGHT TO COMPLAIN

Data subjects have the right to obtain from the Controller, in the cases provided for, access to their personal data and the rectification or deletion thereof or the restriction of processing concerning them or to object to processing (Articles 15 to 22 of the Regulation).

Data subjects who consider that the processing of personal data relating to them carried out through this website is in breach of the provisions of the Regulation have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. the Italian Data Protection Authority), as provided for in Article 77 of the Regulation, or to take legal action (Article 79 of the Regulation).

Requests relating to the above-mentioned articles should be forwarded to the Data Controller using the contacts indicated at the top of this notice.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

The Data Controller reserves the right to make any changes to this privacy policy that it deems appropriate or that are made compulsory by current legislation, at its sole discretion and at any time. On these occasions, users will be duly informed of the changes.
